50,000 Chinese babies are in the hospital over tainted milk

UPDATE: In the course of 24 hours, the number of sick babies has nearly quadrupled. The current number of babies in the hospital has reached at least 50,000.

Another Chinese disaster, except this time they didn't export the bad stuff to the United States. There are reports that at least 13,000 babies are hospitalized after drinking tainted milk powder.

China's health ministry said that number could increase during the coming days. So far, four babies have died after drinking milk powder contaminated with melamine, an industrial chemical that shouldn't be anywhere near babies.

Of the 13,000 reported cases so far, four children have died, 104 cases are "very serious", and 1,500 babies have been "cured" and sent home. While this news is obviously bad, it's good to know they aren't just sending their crap to the USA, but their own people are somewhat incompetent too. More.
